Counselling and Support
Registered Counsellors are psychological practitioners who provide psychological and preventative interventions that focus on support in order to promote the enhancement of wellbeing of children, adults and families. They perform psychological screening, as well as short-term, supportive counselling, psycho-education and general screening psychological assessments, e.g. intellectual.
Registered Counsellors can identify symptoms or reasons for referrals to other healthcare professionals, but do not diagnose or treat pathology. Clients with pathology will be referred to one of the Clinical Psychologists in the practice or to another appropriate healthcare professional, such as a Specialist Psychiatrist, if required.
Please contact the practice using the details shown on the contact page for additional information, including the costs involved for these services, and to make an appointment. The cost for the services provided by a Registered Counsellor are lower than those for a Psychologist. Payment is required at the time of your consultation and an invoice will be issued within 24 hours which may then be submitted to your medical aid for reimbursement, if appropriate.
