Clinical Psychology Services

Clinical psychology is an integration of science, theory, and clinical knowledge for the purpose of understanding, preventing, and relieving psychologically-based distress or dysfunction in order to promote subjective well-being and personal development. As such, Clinical Psychologists help people identify emotional, mental and behavioural issues in their lives in order to make positive changes to their thinking and behaviour. They aim to understand their clients’ thoughts and actions so they can work with them to manage or overcome their psychological distress and improve their well-being. Clinical Psychologists often work alongside other healthcare professionals in multidisciplinary teams in order to deal complex patient problems.  They are also able to assist with the management of severe psychopathology, as well as less severe matters related to emotional distress and optimising mental functioning.

This practice focuses on working with adults with a variety of different mental or physical health problems including Depressive Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Bipolar Disorders, Trauma and Stressor Related Disorders (e.g. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder), Substance-related and Addictive Disorders, psychological aspects relating to medical conditions (e.g. diabetes, cancer, cardiac problems, chronic pain), and relationship problems.
